The External Love, an online hit series with 8.4 score out of 10 on IMDb, began airing the latest second season on the streaming site Tencent Video on Oct 22.

Actor Xing Zhaolin and actress Liang Jie reprise their roles of Mo Liancheng, a prince, and Qu Tan'er, daughter to a high-ranking official, in the sequel season.

Picking up from where it ends in the first season, which recounts the bittersweet romance of Mo and Qu, the new season finds the love birds lose the memory of their love after a time-travel journey.

Wu Qing replaces Hong Kong director Yuen Tak to helm the second season, which is still penned by scriptwriter Yang Shiye.

Xing said in a Beijing promotional event on Oct 22 that the new season, which has 30 episodes, or six more than the first season, has more romantic sequences and new characters..

The new season received more than 100 million "clicks" in just one hour after it aired online.
