ROK to assist flood-hit Philippines

SEOUL - South Korea decided to offer humanitarian assistance worth $200,000  to the flood-hit Philippines, the foreign ministry said Tuesday.

South Korea will offer the aid after consultations with Philippine authorities, and will provide additional assistance if necessary, the ministry said in a statement.

Torrential rainfalls that swamped the Philippines capital Manila and dozens of municipalities have killed at least 95 people and displaced 370,000, with an approaching storm threatening to further devastate the Southeast Asian country.
