BAGHDAD - The UN-Arab League joint special envoy Kofi Annan said here Tuesday that Iraq shares the concern over the Syrian crisis and supports his six-point plan and its comprehensive implementation.

Annan told a press conference held in Baghdad's heavy fortified Green Zone that he had met with Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al- Maliki during his blitz tour here, and both sides agreed to spare no efforts to stop the killing for the sake of Syrian people.

They also agreed on ensuring that the conflict in Syria would not spill over to its neighboring countries, said the envoy.

Annan said that, during his regional tour in Damascus, Tehran and Baghdad, he had the opportunity to discuss with the leaders of the three nations on the need to get the Syrian people to the political dialogue.

The former UN chief said he is scheduled to depart from Baghdad on Tuesday and to brief the UNSC Wednesday on his three-nation trip.

Iraq, having close trade relations with Syria, has reiterated for many times that it is against military solutions and foreign interference of the issue.
