BEIJING - A Chinese vice foreign minister will attend the international talks on Afghanistan's future on Thursday in Kabul, China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said here Wednesday.

Vice-Foreign Minister Fu Ying will head the Chinese delegation attending the talks, Liu said at a daily press briefing.

Representatives from 29 countries will gather in Kabul for the one-day conference, which follows a meeting held in Istanbul in November aimed at mapping out the future of the war-torn country after NATO troops leave in 2014.

Liu said that China supports Afghanistan to strengthen ties with countries in the region, and is ready to work with relevant countries to make contributions to the peace, stability and development of Afghanistan and the region.
