NEW DELHI - At least 20 people were injured when eight coaches of a passenger train derailed in the northern Indian state of Haryana early Sunday, said local media.
The derailment of the Punjab Mail took place in Sampla area of Haryana's Rohtak district at 4:00 am local time when it was going from Ferozepur in Punjab to Mumbai, said Indo-Asian News Service.
Most of the passengers in the derailed coaches were sleeping when the accident took place, said the report.
Railway officials have also ordered a probe into the accident. Efforts were being made to clear the track and restore traffic.
