ISTANBUL - Twenty-five of Syria's opposition groups got united under the umbrella of the Syrian National Council (SNC) at the end of a close-door meeting in Turkey's Istanbul on Tuesday.
More than 300 representatives of the Syrian oppositions met in Turkey's largest city of Istanbul Monday and Tuesday to seek unity ahead of the "Friends of Syria" conference to be held on Sunday.
Halit Hoca, member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the SNC, said that the meeting was held to determine a strategy against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's leadership and to facilitate joint actions among the opposition groups.
The fractured Syrian oppositions have been repeatedly urged by the international community to close ranks and come up with unified stance in order to find a solution to Syria's ordeal.
