Two soldiers wounded in Thailand bombing

BANGKOK - Two soldiers were injured in a bomb attack in Thailand's southern Pattani province Monday morning, police said.

Eight soldiers, riding on four motorcycles, were on a patrol mission providing security for teachers in Pattani's Sai Buri district when a bomb hidden in a motorcycle parked on the roadside was denoted, the Bangkok Post online reported.

Since the resurgence of insurgency in 2004, around 11,000 violent incidents have been instigated by secessionists in the southernmost provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat, with almost 5,000 people killed.
