HOUSTON - Eleven abused children, some were tied up, had been removed from a crowded home in the US state of Texas where a registered sex offender lives, authorities said Tuesday.

Child Protective Services has taken custody of the children, ranging in age from 5 months to 11 years, according to CBS news.

The children were removed and sent to foster homes after authorities found two 2-year-old children tied to a bed during a visit last month to the one-story home in Dayton, about 30 miles northeast of Houston, according to court documents.

Ten adults were also living in the home, said Child Protective Services spokeswoman Gwen Carter. The children are related, she said.

"The children were removed due to physical abuse, physical neglect and medical neglect," said Carter.

Eight children were found confined in a small, dark bedroom of the home, with some being tied to their beds.

The ten adults were interviewed and none of them said they thought something was wrong.

Authorities are looking into criminal charges, local police said.

One person in Texas' online sex offender registry listed the house as his address, according to media report.
