0NEW DELHI - Reacting to the stepping down of the Maldive President Mohamed Nasheed, India said it is not a coup but a political settlement of the country, said local TV reports.
"Can't call this a coup, but a political settlement within the political framework" of the Maldives, local TV Times Now quoted a Ministry of External Affairs source as saying.
The source also said that all Indian diplomats and nationals are safe in the island nation.
