The new management may aim to save the company's TV business from losing. At the same press conference, Sony Corp. released its earning report for the third quarter ended on December 31, 2011.

The electronics maker lowered down the earnings revisions of this fiscal year for the more-than-expected huge loss on TV.

Hirai has settled down four goals for Sony in the next fiscal year, including to strengthen the core electronics business, to accelerate the innovation to create new business and to turn around the TV business to bring Sony back on track.

Stringer, the current chairman, CEO and president, who recommended Hirai to the Sony Board of Directors as new generation management, will continue his chairman job until his ascension to the board chairmanship in June.

"It's a heavy responsibility under such a hard situation," Hirai, the youngest Sony president to be aside from co-founders, told the press conference.

Hirai also mentioned about considering cooperation with other companies and vowed to build a strong future for customers, shareholders, partners and employees.
