BEIJING - An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale struck off Santa Cruz Islands in the Pacific Ocean at 04:07:17 GMT Monday, the US Geological Survey said on its website.
The epicenter was recorded at a depth of 38 km, about 353 km east of Kira Kira in Santa Cruz Islands, which is part of the Temotu Province of the Solomon Islands.
No tsunami warning has been issued by the Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center after the tremor.
