The people of China have spoken, and I am grateful to every one of you for casting your vote for me to play in the 2012 CBA All-Star Game.

You have given me an early birthday gift. That is because you made me the top vote-getter among all foreign imports and the second-highest of all CBA players.

Come Sunday - the day before I turn 35 years old - I will be the starting point guard for the North All-Star team.

This recognition proves you consider me a shining star among hundreds of talented players in the league.

So far, I have been selected to five All-Star games. This will be my third year in the CBA version, and I was an NBA All-Star twice.

Fifth time is still a charm

If you ever get a chance to go to an NBA All-Star Game, you are in for a real treat. It is one of the best basketball shows on earth.

So many celebrities, along with the rest of the NBA fans, come out to enjoy the featured game and activities. The NBA really does a great job at bringing entertainment and showmanship to its fans around the world.

I did not think any other All-Star game would compare to the NBA's until I played in my first in the CBA. They are virtually the same; from the lights and technology to the entertainment.

I remember when I was selected in the CBA the first time. I was so excited to make my appearance as a reserve in 2010 that I could barely wait to take part in the game, which was nationally televised on CCTV-5.

The incredible way the CBA put together that event triggered something inside me. I was so hyped sitting on the bench waiting for my turn to play. I wanted to take the stage for all of China to see. I had my mind set. I was going to put on a show, and a show it was that I put on. In fact, I was named the MVP.

I hope to put on another stellar performance this year in Guangzhou.

It is always fun to take part in an event where you are recognized for being the best at what you do. I am truly blessed that once again I am one of the chosen few.

I would not be in this position if it were not for my Beijing Ducks teammates and the staff, plus my extended family in Beijing and all of China, so, I say thank you.

I would also like to thank the CBA for naming me as the head coach of the 2012 North Rookie All-Star game. This is the first time a non-Chinese has been selected to this position.

I really appreciate the CBA for honoring me in this way and having a vote of confidence in me.

This weekend should be a lot of fun, and I hope you, my good people of China, will come out to enjoy the festivities as much as I plan to.

If you do attend and see me, please say Ni Hao Ma.bu.li.

Until then, take care. Love is Love.

Yours Truly,

All-Starbury
