Two reporters with BTV were punched by security staff at the Qingdao University Stadium while following the Beijing Ducks to the guest locker room on Sunday night, the Beijing News reported on Monday.
After the Ducks lost their road game to the Qingdao Eagles, 114-102, BTV reporter Liu Ru and cameraman Li Du went to the locker room for interviews, accompanied by the gym's security officials.
While filming boisterous fans, who insulted the Ducks' players and threw empty bottles at the referees, Liu and Li were stopped by officials, who allegedly assaulted them.
"We just wanted to record the chaotic situation triggered by the complaining fans. They (the security guys) didn't want us to shoot it and forced us to evacuate the stadium in such a wild way," Liu was quoted by Beijing News as saying.
"I couldn't tell exactly who hit us during the disorder, but I was kicked twice and Li was punched fiercely on his tummy. But none of the security guys, who are supposed to protect us, gave a helping hand," Liu said.
However, it was Liu and Li's overreaction to some controversial calls during the game that caused the stadium's staff to act in such a manner, local media reports said.
The mudslide occurred at an iron ore mine in the Araltobe township of Xinyuan county, Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture, a spokesman for the prefecture's fire brigade said.
