Should bride prices be abolished?

mom-to-be (China)

I got married last year and I received money from my husband. It was my parents' demand and partly also mine. When I talked to my groom-to-be about the request, he just became out of mind and shouted at me, saying that my parents were just like selling their daughter and it was also out of his reach since he was a sheer poor guy. And when I saw his response, I was upset and ashamed for to some degree he was right. Anyway, he finally gave in to the request and married me because we loved each other so much. Now, I want to say that if it was my daughter, I will never ask for money to make her feel embarrassed and hard.
