节后综合症(jiéhou zōnghézhèng):After-holiday syndrome

(China Daily) Updated: 2016-10-10 08:13

Do you feel too lazy to work? Are you still lost in the memories of the tourist sites you visited during the past week-long holiday?

If yes, you must have been infected with the "after-holiday syndrome", a state of mind that always happens after long holidays. Most people spend the week-long National Day holiday on travelling or attending parties, both of which consume much energy; as a result, they feel tired and sleepy during the first several days of returning to work.

Besides, having left their jobs for a whole week also makes it hard for people to get accustomed to the pace of work again. Some even jokingly say they have forgetten how to use their pens.

In order to "cure" that "syndrome", experts advise employees to return early from trips and relax in the last several days of the holiday week. More importantly, people need to avoid staying up too late at night and eat some light food to balance the big meals they may have enjoyed during the holiday.

More importantly, bosses might need to be a little more patient with their employees after the holiday, because the "syndrome" is rather difficult to cure; some bosses might also suffer from the "syndrome" themselves. In one word, low efficiency for the first several days after the holiday is hardly avoidable and people need to get accustomed to it.
