When I was younger I did. One or two years at a time is about right, it was as much about money as it is just the adventure of being someplace different. Even here in the States I would gas up my truck, strap on a couple of spare jerry cans of gas and go exploring down some little traveled state highway just to enjoy the scenery and people you would meet
