All countries in the world should cooperate to help develop human rights, said an article in People's Daily (excerpts below).

June 25 is the 20th anniversary of the passing of the Vienna Declaration and Program of Action. The declaration was made in the aftermath of the Cold War.

The milestone document sets a series of far-reaching principles and stresses that different countries have different targets and paths for the protection of human rights even if human rights is a universal concept.

Twenty years on the declaration remains pertinent.

Each nation has the right and freedom to choose the best way to improve human rights. This must be done free from interference by richer nations who may have their own political agendas.

Developed economies can provide any necessary technology and funds to developing economies to help them improve their human rights .

The Chinese government has not only tried its best to improve human rights, but also actively participates in international cooperation and exchanges in the field. Understanding, dialogue and cooperation are important to promote international human rights.
