The Paralympic Games of London provide a special stage for handicapped athletes, says an article in People's Daily. Excerpts:
The whole world has the opportunity to watch the athlete's never-give-up spirit in action at the games, which is the spiritual power belonging to all humans.
Handicapped people can correct other people's wrong ideas about them with their performance in the Paralympics. The power of their spirit and perseverance are even stronger than those of other people and they can realize their dreams.
The games are also a window for the world to get to know each country participating in them. Chinese athletes can let the world know China's development and progress in human rights protection.
In addition, the games are a bridge connecting athletes from different countries and regions to make friends and deepen mutual understanding and the enjoyment of sports.
The performance of Chinese handicapped athletes in previous events since 2008 proves that their spirits have already become a national treasure, inspiring the whole nation.
China has more than 85 million handicapped people in about 260 million families. They are an indispensable part of a healthy society and a symbol of the fitness of a society. May the London Paralympic Games be a complete success.
I’ve lived in China for quite a considerable time including my graduate school years, travelled and worked in a few cities and still choose my destination taking into consideration the density of smog or PM2.5 particulate matter in the region.
