The Sundance Film Festival is heading East.
According to entertainment trade publication, Variety, the Sundance Institute is expanding into Hong Kong through a screening series this coming September.
The series "Sundance Film Festival – Hong Kong Selects" will host the Hong Kong premieres of eight movies that screened at Sundance in the states earlier this year.
Screenings will take place at the recently-opened cineplex in Kowloon Bay on two weekends in September.
The event's program will be unveiled in mid-August, with tickets going on sale at the end of the month.
Sundance Film Festival director, John Cooper, has told Variety that Hong Kong is an ideal location to "share the best of American independent film" because of its "rich cinematic history."
