5 Hairpin

The hairpin was one of the most common hair ornaments for women in ancient China. According to "Yi Li" – a book of courtesy regulations – a girl became an adult at the age of 15, which meant she was able to get married. A ceremony would be held on the woman's 15th birthday and from then on, they were allowed to use hairpins. Once a woman accepted a hairpin from a man, it meant "I'm happy to be your wife."
