Rules governing the Internet should be upgraded into laws to protect the privacy of netizens, improve the development of the network and reduce the number of online attacks, experts said at an international conference.
The first World Internet Conference established an international stage for cyberspace titans to discuss hot Web issues, as well as a platform from which the world could govern extensive network, according to China's top Internet watchdog.
"The way to reduce or avoid fake products should rely on the Internet. Maybe 20 years from now, our e-commerce will make a bigger contribution to solving the problem of counterfeit articles and infringement of intellectual property. Every purchase on an e-commerce platform is recorded, and the tracks of fake goods can be followed. Internet technology is a better tool to protect IP rights and crack down on counterfeits. This task cannot be fulfilled when we leave cyberspace."
