Guangdong University of Foreign Studies won a national contest for business English practice, an event aimed at boosting university students' abilities to integrate business theories with practical fieldwork.

The annual event, which is sponsored by the Foreign Language Teaching and Researching Press and more than ten foreign-funded companies, was held at the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in Guangzhou, the provincial capital of Guangdong, on Nov 25.

With a theme of "East meets West", contestants were required to investigate a local enterprise and how they tackled challenges brought about by the fast-changing global economic environment. They presented their suggestions to enterprises in English to better upgrade their businesses.

Four teams from Harbin University of Commerce, Jiangxi Normal University, Guangdong University of Technology and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies competed in the contest.
