A court in Jiamusi, Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, will hear the case in which a pregnant woman and her husband lured a girl to their house and murdered her last July.

The court will begin hearing the case on Thursday, according to the victim's father.

Tan Beibei, who was pregnant at the time of the murder, pretended she was unwell and asked 17-year-old Hu Yixuan, who walked by the suspect, to escort her home. Tan suffocated the girl with the help of her husband, surnamed Bai, after the victim refused to have sex with Bai.

The two suspects confessed that they drugged Hu and hid the body in a travel case to be disposed of after they killed her.

Tan gave birth to a boy on August 6, 2013. None of Tan or Bai's family members will take the baby in, but police say they have received phone calls from across China with offers to adopt the child because "he is innocent."
