BEIJING - China's Foreign Ministry has said of upcoming discussions of a draft resolution to the Syria crisis that actions taken by the UN Security Council should be conducive to a political solution.

Ministry Spokesman Qin Gang made the remarks when responding to a question on the resolution which, as reported, would authorize delivery of humanitarian aid into Syria without approval from the Syria government.

The most urgent requirements are a ceasefire, an end to violence and the start of dialogue and negotiation to push ahead with a political solution to the conflict in Syria, according to Qin.

"We hope that consensus reached in the Geneva Meeting can be implemented as soon as possible," he said, adding that China stands ready to work jointly with all sides concerned to start peace talks and realize peace and stability in Syria as soon as possible.
