KUNMING - Police cracked a cross-border drug trafficking case on Sunday in Southwest China's Yunnan province, local authorities announced.

Police in Lincang city said they had detained one suspect for drug trafficking after seizing about 13 kg of heroin in a motorcycle bag at around 3:10 am on Sunday.

The police acted on a tip they received that two people were preparing to move drugs to China from Myanmar. They formed a task force and seized one suspect surnamed Chen in a small town within Lincang, while another suspect fled into the forest.

Yunnan, which borders the notorious "Golden Triangle" of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand, is at the forefront of China's anti-drug efforts.
