Li Ka Shing donates $3m to train female village officials

The Li Ka Shing Foundation (LKSF) has donated 20 million yuan ($3 million) to a training project aimed at helping female village officials advance in their leadership, which will benefit 1,000 women in Shaanxi province by 2016, the Wenweipo reported on Friday.

As a part of the program called "Project Zhanpu", an opening ceremony for the training class for female managers and university teachers was held Thursday at Northwest University in Xi'an.

At the ceremony, Chen Yu, a project manager at the LKSF, said the class has been designed to provide opportunities for rural female officials in poor regions with limited access to professional leadership training.

A total of 11 teachers at Northwest University will be introduced to train the village officials.

Small-class teaching will be introduced for the five-day program, and 40 village officials will be introduced for each session.

Female officials in Hunan, Guangdong and Guangxi will also be benefit from the "Project Zhanpu" program.
