The public security bureau of Yuechi county in Sichuan province offered 30,000 yuan ($4,850) in reward for clues to help find a gun lost by a police officer last week, people.com.cn reported on Thursday.

Anyone who finds and returns the gun will be awarded 50,000 yuan, the bureau said. According to the report, the officer surnamed Xie attended a meeting at the county government office building at around 4 pm on March 21.

Two hours later, he changed his uniform before having his hair cut at a barbershop and then finishing a dinner at a restaurant.

At around 10 pm, when he arrived home, he found that his gun was missing.

Xie told the website that the police had some clues, although the gun had not yet been found.
