A deputy to the National People's Congress has submitted a motion calling for the development of the general aviation business in Chongqing.

"It is necessary to develop a new navigation flight monitoring system, further opening air space," said Tang Zongwei, deputy director of the Liangjiang administrative committee and an NPC deputy from Chongqing, adding that it is also important to attract private efforts to help build the aviation industry.

In his motion, Tang also suggested reducing the cost of private jets to encourage the market.

He also said it is important to train more industry professionals.

Chongqing Liangjiang New Area is the third national development area approved directly by the State Council. As the only one of its kind in an inland province, Liangjiang functions as a financial and manufacturing hub in Southwest China.

Tang gave Liangjiang as an example to develop an aviation demonstration center, expanding the business to encompass all related fields.

Liangjiang has two aviation manufacturing enterprises and two pilot schools, according to Tang, adding that the new area has been working with companies including Honeywell and HP to develop the aviation industry over the past two years.

"As one of the rapid developing industries, the aviation business is the next automobile industry worth millions in value," Tang said.
