5.8-magnitude quake hits China-Russia border: CENC

BEIJING - A 5.8-magnitude earthquake hit the China-Russia border at 8:29 am on Saturday Beijing time, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter was monitored at 42.8 degrees north latitude and 131.1 degrees east longitude with a depth of 570 km, the CENC said. It is around 9 km away from the nearest point of China's borderline and some 60 km away from the city of Huichun, Northeast China's Jilin province.

The same area was also jolted by a 6.5-magnitude earthquake at 9 pm Friday. No casualties or property losses were reported.
