MACAO - Macao's Composite Consumer Price Index for June increased by 6.19 percent over the same period of last year to 117.11, according to the figures released Friday by the city's Statistics and Census Service.
In comparison with June 2011, price index of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, food and non-alcoholic beverages recorded notable year-on-year increase of 32.18 percent and 8.94 percent respectively during the period, due to dearer prices of vegetable and fresh pork as well as higher charges for dining out, according to the figures.
Meanwhile, price index of communication and transport decreased by 6.58 percent and 0.11 percent respectively year-on-year.
The average Composite CPI for the first half of 2012 increased by 6.42 percent year-on-year. For the 12 months ended June, the average Composite CPI increased by 6.44 percent from the preceding period.
