BEIJING - China's top legislature will deliberate a draft amendment to the law on promoting agricultural technologies as well as other draft laws and amendments during a bimonthly session scheduled for later this month.

The draft amendment and draft laws will be discussed during a National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee session from April 24-27 in Beijing, according to a decision made at Wednesday's meeting of the chairman and vice-chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee -- presided over by NPC Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo.

Legislators will continue deliberating a draft law on insurance for servicemen, a draft amendment to the civil procedure law and a draft law on exit and entry administration, according to a statement issued by the NPC Standing Committee after the meeting. The statement provided no details of these draft laws and amendments.

Furthermore, as the NPC deputies have to be reelected by the end of January 2013, draft plans on quota distribution for the reelection were worked out at the Wednesday's meeting. It was suggested at the meeting that the draft plans be submitted to the upcoming bimonthly session of the NPC Standing Committee for deliberation.

It was also suggested at the meeting that legislators read several other bills and reports, including the State Council's appeal for approval of the No 8 Annexation of Protocol for the Organizing Law of Universal Postal Union, the State Council's report on farming and water conservation development.
