History is a mirror for Japan

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-08-30 23:11

The motive of the government of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is not only to distort history, but also to test global reaction in a bid to expand the space for Japan to overthrow the post-war international order, said an article in the People's Daily (excerpts below).

UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon urged Japan to conduct deep reflection to win the trust and respect of other nations.

But the Japanese government has rejected this approach.

Abe's administration is one of the most nationalist regimes since WWII.

It seems to that Japanese government that the country's only fault in that conflict was to lose.

The international community is wise to what is going on in Tokyo.

History is a mirror and Japan should take time to reflect.

Only after bidding a real farewell to the past can Japan have a bright future.
