An exhibition featuring cultural relics that have long been scattered opened today to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Shenyang Palace Museum.

The Shenyang Palace Museum, with the Palace Museum in Beijing, Nanjing Museum and Zhenjiang Museum in Nanjing are holding the exhibition. The artifacts on display are actually returning back “home” because they were placed in the Shenyang Palace Museum for a time during the Qing Dynasty, but ended up scattered all over the country in the ensuing years.

According to the director of the Shenyang Palace Museum, southward migration of cultural relics is an important event in China's culture history, since it spread many historical artifacts to various parts of China, including museums in the Chinese mainland as well as in Taiwan. This contributed to world cultural heritage protection.

Shenyang Palace Museum, which previously served as the Shenyang Imperial Palace, is the only imperial palace standing in China outside Beijing. It was a palace of the early Qing emperors. In 2004, it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, along with the Forbidden City in Beijing.
