Senior Heilongjiang disciplinary official under investigation
Jiang Hongwei, a senior official responsible for disciplinary and supervisory inspection in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, is under investigation for alleged severe corruption, as announced by China's top anti-graft watchdogs on Tuesday. The announcement was made online by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision, though no further details were provided.
According to public records, Jiang, 58, hails from Heilongjiang and joined the Communist Party in December 1987. He began his career at the provincial civil aviation bureau in July 1989. Between September 1990 and July 2015, Jiang held various positions within the administrative body overseeing key State-owned forest regions in Heilongjiang. Following institutional reforms in 2018, this body was dissolved, with its functions absorbed by the provincial forestry and grassland bureau and its enterprise operations restructured into Longjiang Forest Industry Group Co Ltd.
Jiang subsequently transitioned to disciplinary work in the province, holding key positions in the Greater Hinggan Mountains region and Jiamusi city. In October 2020, he was appointed deputy head of the provincial commission for disciplinary and supervisory inspection.
