Beijing’s crackdown on livelihood violations yields over 140 case resolutions

Since the launch of a campaign in April targeting violations impacting people's livelihoods, Beijing's public security bureau announced on Tuesday that over 140 cases related to environmental issues, food and drug safety, tourism, and intellectual property have been resolved.

More than 390 suspects have been placed under criminal detention, the bureau said, emphasizing the ongoing need for police efforts to maintain city stability and support high-quality economic development.

Between April and May, police intensified actions against counterfeit products, particularly in the cultural and tourism sectors, resulting in 19 detentions and the seizure of 23,000 fake items. Additionally, over 50 individuals were apprehended for recycling and reselling medicines covered by medical insurance and defrauding the medical insurance fund.

As summer approaches and tourism increases, police have tackled issues like illegal one-day tours and ticket scalping, forming specialized teams with government departments to enhance enforcement in key parks and scenic areas, including the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace.

Moreover, the police resolved more than 40 criminal cases involving illegal mining, fishing, and environmental damage, continuing to work with government agencies to improve environmental monitoring, business regulation, and public legal awareness.
