8 dead, 2 injured after fireworks retail store blast, fire in East China

Eight people died and two others suffered minor injuries in a fireworks and firecrackers blast in Dong'an village, Donghai county, Lianyungang, Jiangsu province.
The incident occurred at about 2:30 pm on Sunday after a resident improperly handled fireworks, triggering a blast at a nearby fireworks shop, local authorities said. Fire, police, and health crews responded quickly, and the blaze was extinguished by around 4 pm.
Authorities have detained individuals connected to the incident, and an investigation into the exact cause is underway, alongside post-incident arrangements.
