Forum to revitalize China-Russia media cooperation

The second China-Russia New Media Forum, which concluded on Wednesday in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, is expected to inject new vitality to internet media cooperation between China and Russia.

The forum has become an important platform for communication and cooperation between China and Russia in the internet sector, said Wang Hao, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily, China's largest English-language newspaper, at the closing ceremony.

With the concerted efforts of media professionals in China and Russia, the platform is expected to grow and play a bigger role in expanding the influence of the two countries' internet media, and bringing media communication and cooperation between them to a new level, he added.

As a key part of the China-Russia Media Exchange, this year's event focused on the role of internet and new media in the modern world, the role of advanced technologies in the media sector, media education, youth entrepreneurship, as well as the distribution of internet entertainment content.

Volin Alexei Konstantinovich, deputy minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, said participation of so many young people had invigorated the event. He said he was pleased to see that the e-sports games held during the event were warmly received by the youth.

Chinese and Russian participants showed strong enthusiasm and excellence during the event, said Meskhi Besarion Chohoevich, rector of Don State Technical University, adding that the event has strengthened friendship among young people of the two countries and facilitated the cooperation between China and Russia internet media.

After two days' discussion, media insiders, experts and scholars reached the Consensus of China-Russia New Media Cooperation, agreeing that Russian and Chinese representatives in the media industry should establish regular contact and enhance cooperation in the field of new media to meet the challenges brought by new technologies and the transforming business environment.
