Oh - it happens more than you think. I have worked in HR for 15 years now and the number of calls and visits I receive from parents has gone up exponentially in the last 4-5 years. It is frightening how many college graduates cannot do the simplest thing without consulting with mom or dad. It seems these kids were raised to be helpless. I see more mother/son situations than I do anything else. I have had parents that have come to the interview with the candidate and a couple of them that have requested to be in the interview. When I told them that was not possible, they told me that their child would not be working for us...and what a great loss that was going to be for our company.
