Summer vacations around the world

In my country it's not common for students to take part time jobs. Sometimes parents would send their sons to do strenuous work to "punish" them for low grades, but this would never happen to girls.

We moved to different homes like 3-4 times during my childhood, and each neighborhood was of a different social class. In poorer areas there's really a "street culture,” where boys and girls from the same neighborhood would play games, gossip or just hang around outside together. Wealthier families have summer houses, and spend time there once the children are in summer vacation. Some children take classes during summer for sports, and those are the cool kids. Some would travel to different parts of the country or even go abroad.

High schoolers are under a lot of stress, just like in China. We have cram schools and some people send their children off right away when they're just freshmen. There are sample tests and classes during summer as well. There are cram schools for primary school-goers as well, because we have to take an exam to enter good high schools. So for many, summer vacation is painfully short.
