Peaceful development the best strategy for China

Strategy is important for all major countries in today's world. The competition among big countries, both developed countries and emerging economies, is by its nature a competition of strategies, says an article in People's Daily. Excerpts:

Peaceful development is the necessary strategic choice for China according to its national conditions.  

A peaceful, open and inclusive China will inject positive energy into the world. In the process of China's development some countries' misunderstandings and prejudice toward China will be gradually eliminated through deepened mutual understanding. Many kinds of conflicts and disputes can be solved through mutual beneficial cooperation in various fields.

The diplomatic achievements of China in 2012 prove peaceful development is by no means an expedient strategy, but a long-term strategy prudently chosen by China considering both the domestic and foreign situation.  

The problems and difficulties China has faced over the past year also reminds us that China cannot only pick the roses, it must also be prepared for the thorns. We must use our abilities and improve the skills to deal with all problems in our way.

China's rise means some people feel that their status as world leaders, which has been taken for granted by them for a long time, will become increasingly less stable. More importantly, some people must adjust their superior attitude and adapt to China's rise. History teaches us serious lessons that we must maintain strong vigilance to their possible containment schemes in various fields targeting China or conspiracy to overthrow China's stability or derail China from its course.

China firmly adheres to the principals of mutual respect and equality in its dealings with the outside world. China is also sensitive to the behavior of foreign countries that may be in contrast to this principle.  

China has the patience to build a new model of relations among big countries. The Chinese people also know, in the bottom of their hearts, that national power is the foundation for respect and influence.

As a big developing country, the most important thing for us is to manage our own business well, and constantly improve the comprehensive national power of China through our own endeavors.

Making China stronger and richer is the best way to defend China's interests and take initiative in the international community as well as the most effective way to fight against the countries trying to ruin China's rise.
