Survey conclusion unconvincing

(China Daily) Updated: 2012-05-21 08:07

Comment on "2/3 of Chinese satisfied with health service"(China Daily, May 4)

In my opinion, the conclusion that two-thirds of Chinese are satisfied with the health service is not convincing. The report did not offer enough details and information to convince readers.

For example, in the report the number of people surveyed is not provided, and neither is the ratio of people from urban and rural areas. If the readers do not have this information, it is hard to tell if there was any bias in the survey.

The health services are improving in some places, but mainly in urban areas. The economy and the living conditions are improving, too, but obviously, the improvement is not balanced and equal between urban and rural area. The readers need more information.

Furthermore, the ratio of the urban and rural population in China is about equal now. Unless the samples of people in urban and rural area are selected equally and from different parts of China, the result won't be convincing.
