By July 30, the Bengkulu coal-fired power plant in Indonesia had generated over 200 million kilowatt hours of power this year. On the same day, the facility's two power units had been in safe operation for 36 consecutive days.

The company operating the Bengkulu coal-fired power plant has made full use of its limited resources – including manpower, machinery and materials – to effectively solve problems and conduct on-site production management. The operators have also worked hard to ensure COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control measures are followed.
Additionally, management has actively strengthened communication with clients and established an internal power-generation communication mechanism covering operation and maintenance units.
Located in Bengkulu, on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, the power plant project was launched on Oct 25, 2016. It is comprised of two 100-megawatt coal-fired plants, 150 kilovolt electric transmission and distribution circuits and a wharf for unloading coal, among other facilities.
The Bengkulu power plant is POWERCHINA's first coal-fired power project in Indonesia. In line with the Belt and Road Initiative, the project has stimulated cooperation between China and Indonesia in a variety of fields.
