PowerChina headquarters in Istanbul

The Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) opened its Eurasia headquarters in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 23 to further integrate into the Eurasian market.

Ismail Gultekin, deputy governor of Istanbul, Chen Su, acting Chinese consul general, and Wang Bin, vice president of PowerChina, attended the inauguration ceremony with other representatives and reporters from Xinhua, CCTV, CRI and the Turkey-based Anadolu Agency.

Wang Bin said PowerChina is delivering on the Chinese government's wishes to bring mutually beneficial opportunities to countries along the Belt and Road by basing its regional headquarters in Istanbul.

PowerChina Eurasia covers 63 countries in South and Central Asia, Transcaucasia, Europe and other regions along the Belt and Road, an initiative proposed by China to build a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa along the ancient Silk Road trade routes.

Chen Su referred to the fact that economic and trade cooperation between China and Turkey has played prominent role in facilitating bilateral ties. China has changed both its own region and the whole world with its projects and moves.

"It is very pleasing that Chinese companies have come to Turkey in recent years," Ismail Gultekin said. The deputy governor pledged "all kinds of support" to the workers of PowerChina and all other Chinese citizens.

PowerChina, a leader in China's hydropower industry, ranked 200th on Fortune's Global 500 in 2016. The corporation has divided its worldwide market into six regions and has set up six regional headquarters for better management of its 259 international branches.

Under the corporation's strategic development plan, the regional headquarters will be gradually built into regional group companies.
