Reconstruction finishes on Central Africa hydropower station

The Boali No 1 Hydropower Station in the Central African Republic passed official acceptance checks on March 10 and the completion ceremony took place at the station on March 13.

As a project of the POWER Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA), the restoration involved five power units and Balance Of Plant (BOP) equipment. The project started in May 2016 and finished within seven months. Upon completion, the station is able to offer half of all electricity to the Central African Republic.

The president of the Central African Republic confers a medal on POWERCHINA's vice chairman Lei Ming.

Central Africais an underdeveloped country with shortages of materials and a high risk of contracting infectious diseases, which caused great difficulties for POWERCHINA workers.

However, orderly construction ensured smooth progress of the project, winning acclaim from locals.

The Boali No 1 Hydropower Station was among a string of POWERCHINA's achievements in 2016, which completed reconstruction for a further five hydropower stations in Ethiopia, Thailand, Nigeria and Turkey.

A group of government officials, including Faustin-Archange Touadéra, the country's president, premier and foreign minister, along with representatives from the EU and POWERCHINA attended the completion ceremony. The president conferred a medal on POWERCHINA's vice chairman Lei Ming at the ceremony, thanking him for the company's contribution.
