The beginning of August will witness opening of two digital cinemas in Pingnan, an inland mountainous county in northeastern Fujian.

The county's old cinema was demolished last September, because of reconstruction in its center. Since then, there was no cinema for inhabitants to see latest films.

The new cinemas, which began construction from April, are located in two complexes each. So far, more than 8 million yuan ($1.29 million) have been invested in them, said a director of the county's radio and television bureau.

The over-400-seat cinemas will meet local residents' demands and drive the county's culture industry.

The film market in Pingnan has a good prospect, with over 50,000 permanent residents and 3 million tourists every year. For example, since it opened the account half a month ago the Zhongxing Cinema has already had more than 2,000 fans on WeChat.
