The Pingnan electricity supply company took measures to accommodate the peak in power during the Chinese New Year holiday period, falling on Feb 19.

An increasing number of migrant workers came home for the upcoming Chinese New Year, deepening the electrical load burden in the villages of Pingnan county, Fujian province.

Many houses of migrant workers living in other places cut their electrical lines due to their long absences. Electricity resupply is the often the first thing they must arrange in order to spend the Spring Festival vacation at home.

Local government departments have devised a method of sending texts in advance, to inform returning workers about how to apply for electricity resupply in their houses.

Village electricity providers have opened fast channels for returning workers to restart their electricity supply and complete the installation on the day of application.

Special inspection groups also check the circuits and equipment to ensure electrical safety.
