Man executed for deadly robberies

A former Fujian province fisherman was sentenced to death on Thursday by the Ningde People's Intermediate Court for attempted murder and maritime robbery. He was executed the same day. Since 1990, Lin had been part of a gang that robbed fishing boats in the waters off Fujian and Zhejiang provinces. After the series of robberies, the gang would blow up the boats and beat the fishermen to death. From March to October 1990, Lin was involved in four robberies that brought in a total of 350,000 yuan ($56,400). The crimes also led to the death of 26 fishermen. Lin was captured two years ago.
