Pingnan's afforestation stands out in Fujian

Pingnan county, Ningde city, Fujian province, completed its afforestation program of 8,460 mu (564 hectares) in 2014, with an actual afforestation area of 12,509 mu, an excess of nearly 48 percent compared with the original plan.

Pingnan government started the afforestation program in February, 2014, allocating a special fund of 1 million yuan ($161,000) for it.

Now, the forest coverage rate in Pingnan has reached 76.4 percent, top in Ningde city and taking the lead in Fujian province.
