All travel agencies in Fujian province have adopted a new tourism contract, according to the Fujian provincial Tourism Bureau on Nov 25.

The latest contract, revised by the country’s tourism authority and released in April, stipulated more explicitly the obligations of both tourists and travel companies.

Based on the new rules, a travel agency will pay up to triple damages to travelers if the tour is abandoned for no reason. The agency has the right to kick out tourists showing behaviors that are deemed gravely rude and uncivil.

What’s more, if a tour is delayed, travelers and the agency will share increased fees incurred from the return journey.

The new contract also requires travel agencies and tourists to reach consensus on details of shopping during the tour in case of possible disputes over the service.
