500 Pingnan officials visit disabled village residents

On January 22, over 500 officials from 137 units in Pingnan visited disabled residents in 336 families of the county’s rural areas.

Zhang Xiaohua, secretary of commission of Tangkou village, Pingnan county, went to the home of Zhou Jiaqian in Tangkou village and handed the family 300 yuan.

Zhou was partially paralyzed in an accident and his family of three survives on the income of his wife – and a total of 800 yuan from the Pingnan authorities each year. He also receives 30 yuan a month in disability payments from his village.

A total of 11,000 disabled people live in Pingnan, and the local authorities initiated a project in 2012 to assist the families of its disabled residents.
